The Architect - Hans Bølling Bølling’s work is known for its play, humor and wit. A passionate spirit whose practice and products are inspired by creative diversity, Bølling’s interest in architecture drew him back to school for a secondary degree after training as an advertising designer. The precision and personality in his objects paved the way for success as he quickly began to sell the wooden figures to stores. Mermaid by Hans Bølling Description At first glance, Mermaid reminds us of the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale that most people associate Denmark with. Designed in 1960, Hans Bølling’s character goes beyond the fairy tale and embodies an ethereal, refined feminine aura. Her carefully rounded shape and thoughtful lines offer a sense of serenity. Mermaid brings together sophisticated and simple Danish design. You can create new expressions simply by turning her head, fin, body, or arms. Care Instructions - Mermaid (Oak and Maple Wood) Wood is a living material. This means that over time, if the material is exposed to sunlight or high humidity, for example, the colour may change slightly as the wood moisture content changes. In this case, we recommend sanding the products with fine sandpaper (preferably grain 220 or finer). This will also give the product a smooth surface again. To preserve the glow of the dark wood in the eyes, we recommend to use beeswax balm or furniture wax, applied using a cotton swab.
